Love Through The Lens of Gratitude
Love comes in many forms. There’s romantic love, yes, but
Michelle Ferguson is an author, speaker, financial advisor, and Gratitude-Centered Transition Coach devoted to helping women navigate grief, life after loss, and the profound transitions that reshape identity, purpose, and the future.
A resident of Cape Cod, Michelle’s work is deeply rooted in lived experience—one marked by love, caregiving, resilience, healing, and an unwavering belief in hope.
After supporting her husband Jerry through stage 4 esophageal cancer while also facing her own breast cancer diagnosis, Michelle discovered that gratitude is not simply a practice—it is a powerful pathway to resilience, healing, and transformation. Following Jerry’s passing after 25 years together, she chose to honor their story by helping others find strength and meaning through life’s most difficult seasons.
Michelle does not teach women how to “move on.”
She gently guides them in learning how to move forward—carrying love with them while rebuilding a meaningful and purpose-filled life.
Her debut memoir, A Love Like Ours, chronicles her and Jerry’s extraordinary 25-year love story, from their life in the Philippines to building a new future in the United States with only four suitcases, a hundred dollars, and a shared dream. Through their journey of sacrifice, perseverance, and dual cancer diagnoses, the book offers readers a heartfelt reminder of the enduring power of love, gratitude, and resilience.
Her second book, Grace, Grief, and Gratitude: A Journey to Resilience, expands her mission of supporting others through grief, caregiving, and personal transformation. Drawing from her own experiences as both caregiver and widow, Michelle offers emotional wisdom, practical tools, and encouragement for those learning to heal while rediscovering themselves.
In addition to writing, Michelle leads workshops, author talks, and gratitude-centered programs, including her signature experience, Grace, Grief & Gratitude. Through her speaking engagements, YouTube channel ( Gratitude Journey with Michelle ), and community events, she shares insights on emotional resilience, healing, gratitude practices, and financial preparedness—empowering individuals to navigate change with courage and compassion.
Michelle’s long-term vision is to establish a foundation supporting caregivers facing medical and financial hardship, continuing her commitment to uplift others through advocacy, connection, and hope.
Across every platform and every story she shares, Michelle’s message remains the same: even in life’s most difficult moments, gratitude can become an anchor—guiding us toward healing, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose
Her approach blends storytelling, reflective practices, and guided coaching to support women as they step into a new chapter—not by leaving the past behind, but by integrating it into a life that can still hold beauty, connection, and hope.
Even in life’s hardest seasons, there is always something to hold onto, that there is always something to be grateful for—and gratitude can become the bridge from surviving to living again.

“I feel truly humbled to have had the opportunity to read ‘Grace, Grief & Gratitude’ prior to its official release. This powerful work offers profound insights into love, loss, resilience, and the strength found in navigating life’s most difficult seasons. What resonated with me deeply was the way Michelle weaves in the complexities of a cross-cultural marriage. As someone in a mixed-culture relationship, I found her reflections both enlightening and affirming, helping me better understand the beauty and challenges of blending different traditions and perspectives. Having also read Michelle’s first book, ‘A Love Like Ours,’ I can say that this new work has given me an even deeper outlook on the meaning of gratitude and how it shapes our lives. ‘Grace, Grief, and Gratitude’ is heartfelt, thoughtprovoking, and beautifully written. It is highly recommended, not only for couples navigating cultural differences, but for anyone seeking inspiration in resilience, compassion, and the power of gratitude.”
“Reading your book ‘Grace, Grief & Gratitude,’ I had the feeling of hearing you speaking, as if you were there, sitting next to me. I did not only discover words, but a precious part of you. Your words are true, tender, and deep; they go directly to the heart. Each page has your touch, this rare mix of delicacy and depth that calms, brings light, and closeness. You have been able to write what so many of us feel without being able to say it. You gave a voice to silence, a beauty to sorrow, and a hope to gratitude. Without falling into melodrama, you invite us to think about what is really important in life, and I will simply repeat one quote from your book p. 26: ‘Stop and smell the roses.’ What you wrote is beautiful, but above all, sincere. We can feel all the love, all the strength, and all the sensitivity you carry inside you. I am touched by your courage. It is a gift that you offer, and I am so proud and happy to know you. Thank you for sharing.”
“This book is a heartfelt, honest, and practical guide for anyone who is trying to navigate the painful journey of grief. Michelle’s tools, exercises, and questions for reflection help the reader connect to hope, their inner resilience, and a way to move forward. Michelle recognizes that grief is a process that happens over time and is an experience that needs to be honored. I especially appreciate the focus on gratitude, not in a way that dismisses pain, but as a way to regain joy and find healing. The exercises provide readers with a way to connect to their inner strength at their own pace. As a mental health professional who has helped others navigate their own grief journeys, I see how valuable this book would be not only for grievers but also for friends, family or professionals seeking to support others through loss. This book is a truly meaningful resource for anyone seeking compassionate and practical guidance that balances empathy with action.”
“‘Grace, Grief & Gratitude: A Journey of Resilience’ by Michelle Ferguson is a nonfiction workbook that delves into the author’s personal journey of navigating the unpredictable landscape of a cancer diagnosis. Beyond the author’s intimate experience, the book intertwines familiar concepts with reflection exercises that encourage readers to reconsider their thinking and find new directions. This book serves as a valuable tool for overcoming life’s challenges and navigating paths that may not align with our initial plans. For me, the most captivating aspect of the book was Michelle’s vulnerability as she shared her love story with us. By opening up, she allowed us to understand that the loss of a loved one can be a source of gratitude and a gift to cherish on our next journey. Through her graceful shift in perspective, she offers us a path to embrace this newfound perspective.”
“This book begins with a great start: clear, engaging, and inviting. From the very first pages, you feel guided by Michelle’s steady hand through a structure that flows beautifully, weaving together moments of time and moments of the heart. The central theme that shines through is gratitude. Michelle reminds us that finding ‘joy in the ordinary’ and ‘aligning together’ are not small gestures, but the foundation for deeper connection. And when she writes, ‘Gratitude doesn’t make life’s challenges go away. But it sure does give you strength,’ you pause, recognising the wisdom of lived truth. What I love most are the practical actions: the creation of a ‘togetherness ritual’ or the beautiful idea of writing ‘love letters for the future.’ These are gentle invitations to act, not just to reflect. Ultimately, Michelle reminds us that in healing, we are never alone. It is warm, hopeful, and quietly transformative: a companion for anyone seeking to walk forward with courage and appreciation.”
